The Beginning of the End

It is crazy scary how quickly things are happening here... Every day seems to go by so slow being packed with so much to do to... so little time... But the days strung together are completely FLYING by.

The semester just started and I absolutely love starting new semesters. It is exciting... new schedules, new classes, new books, and new teachers. And it will all end the last week of February. So stinkin' quick... The first week has flown by and I already have a book report due next week. Plus it is Kenny's last semester of undergrad school.

Work is beginning to end to. I loved the people I worked with(most of the time... I would get the occasional crazy in my department, but thank goodness they never lasted a long time). I have generally loved my job. It always felt great to go and do a good job on a project or to figure out a problem and impress those over you. My favorite part was the rush that came when I was given a new project to set up, figure out, and work on.
I am training my replacement and having a hard time with it. I am having to give up control of the things that I have worked so hard on. Things that I have brought to pass. Things may change when I am gone... which is fine, it won't be my concern anymore, so they should change... but I almost hate to go. I want to go to work and continue to run things and do a good job.

Then of course there is the BIG end coming up... I will no longer be pregnant. The other day I was looking at pictures of Kenny and I's first summer being married and dang was I small (not to be conceited or anything, just compared to my shape now, I was a little shocked that I was ever that small). I hope, I pray that I go back to my old size (sorry if that may seem vain to some, but I have all of these cute winter sweaters that I had bought at the end of the season last winter that I did not even get to wear this year... it was very sad to have to pack them up... still unworn. I would like to be able to wear them at least once in my life which would require going back to the figure I was before). Plus being pregnant is hard stuff... your range of movement... totally restricted. But anyways, I am not looking forward to the end of being pregnant... the labor part... UGH!!! Labor for me is seen as the end all, be all of our current life. It will no longer just be me and Kenny. It will be Kenny, me, and HLK (the initials of the baby's name). We will be responsible for a kid. This is scary on multiple levels. A baby in our charge.

Don't get me wrong, we are 100%, completely excited and pumped to have a baby. It is such a blessing to have kid... but oh my gosh, it is terrifying at the same time. Normally, for us, if we are holding a baby and it starts to cry or has a dirty diaper you are able to quickly pass it back to one of their parents so they can take care of it... people will be passing it back to us! Also, the whole umbilical cord thing... freaks both of us out!!! How long will it be on there and do we really have to touch it, because we have both said that is out of the question. I remember Riley's being all black and nasty looking... I don't think I will be able to touch it. YUCK!!! Also, Kenny is not good with vomit or spit up... like bad. We were watching the movie Four Christmases last night (good movie, it was so funny... plus you can never go wrong with Reese Witherspoon... and shocker, Tim McGraw is in it) and we both laughed hysterically at the part when the baby vomits because the reaction that Vince Vaughn has is EXACTLY how Kenny would react. Here is a clip of the vomit part, you can see how Kenny reacts for yourself... HILARIOUS!!!

Right now life is leading up to one big event and change... the BABY! It is like this chain of events are counting down. I am quitting work, my semester will end, it is Kenny's last semester, etc... It is a crazy time but it is so stinking exciting... we are so stoked. Our date tonight is ice cream and going to buy a crib. It is exciting to think that now we are getting into real life. Kenny's undergrad school is ending (still has grad school but still college is ending) and we are going to be parents. Crazy big changes. The quote that comes to mind and that I think applies to my life the most right now is from the Disney movie The Emperor's New Groove when Kuzco and Pacha are tied to the tree and floating down the river...

"Pacha: Uh-oh.
Kuzco: Don't tell me. We're about to go over a huge waterfall.
Pacha: Yep.
Kuzco: Sharp rocks at the bottom?
Pacha: Most likely.
Kuzco: Bring it on."

Those sharp rock are the labor part... not the having a child part. I am just hoping an epidural makes it all feel better! :)

Brittany, you will be a great mom and the gross things won't bother you as much! Labor does suck, but get an epidural as soon as you can and it makes it so much better! Are you going to share what HLK stands for? Good luck with all the changes :)

Brittany, all the fears that you guys have are totally natural! But I promise it's different when it's your child! You'll see soon! You're gonna be a great mommy so don't worry! Oh and the chord falls off within a coupla weeks. It's not bad! And you'll do great through labor and delivery! If I could do it with no epidural, you can totally do it with! You'll be so great! And trust me, it's all totally worth it once you have your beautiful HLK with you. Good luck! Sending much love and prayers your way! <3

Brittany, you crack me up!! If you have an epideral there is nothing to worry about it. I love the epideral, would never do it any other way. I was so nervous when I had my first and everyone told me all their horror stories. Dont listen to them! It is not as bad as you think. Once you have that little baby the cord and all the other stuff will not seem as gross. Its not that bad I promise. The tar poop when they are first born is way more gross lol!!!
