The Christmas Spirit

This is the new Mormon Message. I just love it! It almost made me cry... which is not as great of a feat as it used to be. I can cry over anything these days. Commercials, TV shows, Movies, Mormon Messages, yesterday Kenny and I were driving around and we pulled up next to this car were the two people were smoking, I thought I saw a carseat in the back and I almost started crying because I thought they had a kid in the car when they were smoking. I made myself check before I actually started crying... there wasn't one... tears were adverted. But then I thought of my mom's good friend Merleen who just passed away from lung cancer because of smoking and almost started crying, but I managed to hold it in. Being married and especially being pregnant has made me such a softy, I used to pride myself on my ability of never crying! Now I can cry over anything... it is crazy. Especially since I have not mastered it yet... my face gets way blotchy and red and puffy... if I am going to be a crier, I need to get to the point where it does not make me look like I have been crying the last 3 weeks.
But anyways, enjoy the message!

Kenny and I have planned numerous trips back up to BYU- Idaho (we plan and talk about doing this all of the time... but have still not yet done it... life is just too busy) to visit. One things that is always on the list of things to do is getting a cookie monster from Craigo's. They are so delicious! A fresh, hot out of the oven chocolate chip cookie in a round cake pan topped with vanilla ice cream, tons of whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and caramel. It is so stinking good!!!
Well, the owners of Craigo's recently opened up a restuarant in Provo called Pizza Pie Cafe and.... they have cookie monsters. So Kenny and I went a couple of weeks ago.... I was in HEAVEN!!! It is the perfect place for many reasons...

1. It is a pizza buffet. I love pizza buffets (like CiCi's from home) but we have yet to find one in Utah which always made me sad! There is nothing like getting to try tons of different types of pizza in one sitting. It is like Christmas for your mouth... getting to eat all those different kinds... So yum! My favorite at Pizza Pie Cafe is the Chicken Ranch pizza (I seriously had like 4 slices of this kind alone... yes I know that 4 slices is a lot... but I love pizza, can't get enough of it)and the regular supreme pizza. Kenny likes the barbeque chicken pizza (which is another perk about pizza buffets: everyone gets exactly what you what they want... I do not like barbeque chicken pizza so Kenny does not get to eat it that often because at regular pizza places you only get to order one kind).

2. Not only is it a pizza buffet but also a pasta bar and a salad bar. And it had a good salad bar (the only thing it was lacking was raisins... they had craisins-yuck- but not raisins). Some times you go to a place and the salad bar is horrible... the lettuce is wilted, they have no good toppings to choose from, the ranch dressing is nasty, etc... But this was a good salad bar. We never made it to the pasta bar, but we sure did make it to the pizza... over and over again(the pasta bar was located behind the pizza buffet... not a good location if you want to push the pasta)!

3. It was very nostalgic for me. I love BYU- Idaho. It is seriously 10 times better than BYU ever could be (sorry if that statement offends anyone, cough cough-Kenny. But if you ask any one who has been to both schools -besides Kenny- they will surely tell you that Idaho is better... it just a fact). So going to the restuarant and seeing that all the pizza was Craigo's ____________ made me feel closer to Idaho. I miss it.

4. The cookie monster that I previously described. So delicious.

The Cookie Monster

This restuarant was HEAVENLY! I can't wait to go again!

*Mom, so sorry it took me so long to post this. But I love you, here it is......

Check it out...

So we had our first ultrasound today... so exciting! And the big news... We are having a GIRL!!!! We are so excited! We don't have a name yet, but are throwing a couple around. Here is a shortened video of our ultrasound... we seriously cut out like half of it. But it was so amazing and surreal to see... there is actually a tiny little baby girl in there... crazy but amazing! Enjoy...

Hmmm....

So, it has been a while... again. I am not very good at keeping this thing current and up to date. It has been busy since school started back up... plus being pregnant makes you exhausted...all the time! This picture is for my mother...

Me at 19 weeks. So almost half way there. We find out what it is going to be October 22nd. I can't wait... neither can my mom(she has a Carter's coupon that she is dying to use). :)

To the Mothers.....

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!
i know this is late, but that is what you get for taking a swig of rancid milk (you get sick and do not get to blog about you Mother and Mother-in-law until the day after).

We have not really gotten to spend a lot of time with Kenny's Mom since being married (thanks to the dang green card) but every time we do I am amazed by her. She is such a hard worker and awesome mother! She is always so kind, sweet, and willing to help. She cares so much about her kids and is always taking care of everything and everyone. She is an amazing mom. Plus, she raised Kenny and he is so absolutely fabulous and amazing...so clearly, an indicator

First of all, sorry about this picture mom. But i absolutely LOVE it!

But anyways, sometimes after i do something Kenny will tell my that it reminded him of my mom or that my mom would do it the same way. i love getting these comments. i truly aspire to be like my mother. she is such a good example to me with her constant service and care for others, her strong foundation in the gospel, and her steadfastness in standing for what is right. she is the most amazing women ever. she was my best friend all growing up. she is always there to just listen when i need to talk and give comforting advice. she knows just what to say and is usually right. she has always been there supporting and helping me feel like i can accomplish anything. i would not be the person i am today had it not been for her influence.

WE LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH!

best sunday school comment ever...

Last Sunday, Kenny and I taught the Marriage and Family Development class at church. The lesson was on Family finance/budgetting. During the tithing portion of the lesson, one of the girls said the best sunday school comment ever! She was talking about how paying a full tithe does not necessary mean we will not have any monetary challenges. We are promised blessings if we pay a full tithe, but that does not necessarily mean those blessings will be monetary... the Lord will bless us through different means as He sees fit. Anyways, this was her comment....

Even when we pay a full tithe, the Lord is not going bail us out of sticky situations. He is not Obama... we are responsible for managing our own finances.

Well said!

Hello & Goodbye

So 2 Saturdays ago we bought a fish and all of the supplies from Petsmart.

Pretty blue.

Named him Cougar.

1 Saturday ago, he died after a two day struggle to get to and stay at the bottom of the tank (he would try to go down, get half way there then just float back up... it was sad to witness).

Saturday night after ice cream following the priesthood session of conference, we saw him...

Floating.

Belly up.

Non responsive to tapping and moving his bowl.

It was sad to see. It is always sad (for some)* when pets die (even though it was just a fish and had our landlord found out, we would have played the "but fish are not pets cards" real quick).

Here are pictures of the deceased....

*the see note section: others response to the death of the dear fish Cougar...Kenny- found it humorous and admitted to the desire of wanting to flush it on Friday....My mom, Aunt Jennifer, Chris, and Jessica- laughed hysterically without end....The Rigby's- offered to make me sushi

We (mostly, I) will miss you Cougar, you were fun to watch for the week.

My Wonderful Husband!

this is really late, but things have been rather busy. So Kenny bought me these flowers the day that i was sick... so sweet! Such an amazing guy... I am so lucky!

Thanks Kenny!

A NEW ADDITION...

The busy, married, college, working life does not allow for a lot of time for extra things. Many things like house cleaning, going to the gym, and making meals are not even being attempted anymore.

Therefore, Kenny and I have been talking and decided to fix one those things....well kind of, and we are still contemplating on the attempt to fix the others. And with our Hot Pocket and Ramen Noodles diet, it was imperative that something be done. Anyways, so we bought a stationary bike!

The finished product. And no worries, the bikes real home is not blocking the doorway, that just happened to be where we set it up.

Note to my mother: I hope these serve as decent pictures for my hair. It is not all the way down but here is a picture of the back on a different day. Love you!

If only I was a WITCH...

I have so much that I should be doing right now. Cleaning up the dinner and breakfast dishes, making the bed, picking up the living room, attempting to stay caught up on my readings for classes ( Guns, Germs, and Steel, I do not suggest it...reading it is like pulling teeth!), practicing ASL, writing my paper that is due in two weeks, study for my exam next Tuesday, getting ready for work, and the list goes on and on and on. However, I am not in the mood to do any of the above. Working 35 hours a week and going to school full time is taking its toll... I am exhausted and just want to chill out and relax.

Ever since watching Bewitched a few weeks ago (one of my all time favorite shows) I have been left thinking what life would be like if I was a witch. I am here to tell you that life would be a lot easier if I was Samantha. All she has to do is wiggle her nose and she can do whatever wants or have whatever she wants done for her. I have been entertaining the thought of having her "power" ever since I watched it last, and let me tell you it would be fabulous! With a simple wiggle of my nose, I could have dinner made, dishes done, apartment organized and cleaned, be done with my homework and reading for the week, have folded the laundry, and much much more without wearing myself thin!
*Confession- more than once these past few weeks, I have wiggled my nose at several items (red lights, dishes, laundry-dirty and clean-, broken computers) in hopes that they would magically be fixed and do what I want them to do. However, it is always a let down when my wiggling attempts fails. I have even tried wiggling it in different ways but to my dismay have never succeeded. So now I am in the acceptance stage of coming to terms with the fact that I do not have magical powers nor will I ever be a witch! I guess I am just going to have to get things done the old school way! *

Wish me luck! :)

Coming to Earth Days

This week was my twin brothers and my birthday. Theirs was Wednesday and mine was Thursday, so we got to celebrate that this week. On Wednesday, Kenny and I took Stephen some balloons, brownies, and a little gift. It was fun seeing him on his birthday. When we showed up at his apartment none of his roommates knew that it was his birthday. It was good to go and see him.

Stephen opening his present...

Stephen and I on his birthday.

I am going to start off about my birthday saying that I have the greatest, most thoughtful, and sweet husband ever ( sorry to everybody else, but I got him)! Not only did I have a birthDAY, but I had a birthWEEK! Kenny is so sweet to me, I love him so much. So anyways, it started on Sunday with breakfast in bed. He did sweet things all week long for me. On Thursday, it started with breakfast in bed again... he woke up way early so we had time to eat it before we had to get ready for school. When I got home from work, I had dinner waiting and got one of my presents ( he filled up some of my pictures frames with our favorite engagement pictures). Then after going to my ASL class, I came home to my favorite cake and ice cream and more presents (which was a total suprise, because he had a budget to stick to). And that was not even the end, birthday week ended yesterday... we went out to eat at an amazing restaurant, Tucanos, and went shopping. I had the perfect birthday week, my husband is so amazing!

My best friend, Kenny is so amazing! I love getting to share my life with him!

This is the best cake ever, it is Linda's Cinnamon Bundt Cake (Sister Quick is amazing with the baked goods)!

The Reflections of Christ book. I love this, the pictures are amazing. If you have not seen or heard about this click here. Watch the video, it is breath taking. Also, along with this book was a note from Kenny saying that I can buy myself some temple clothes. I am so excited for those!

The cupcakes my friend Melissa gave me.

The card and flower from Stephen, I am lucky to have such a cool brother.

This is the restaurant we went to yesterday. I have never had so much good food in my entire life. OH MY GOSH... it was amazing! I could not stop eating... I have NEVER been so stuffed. I seriously thought I was not going to be able to hold it all down. But it was just too good to stop. They also sang for my birthday and I got a free sundae. It was fun, we are on their birthday club so I can't wait for May so we can go again for Kenny's birthday.

Officially a Cougar!

So I know that this is really little kiddish... but it was a monumental day... my first day of school at BYU Provo! I think Kenny was being a little bit sarcastic this morning when he said I should take a back to school pictures... but little did he know, I was going to suggest it anyways! So here are my first day of school pictures. I am so excited to be going to classes again. I had world civilizations and anthropology this morning and I will go to Health Promotion and American Sign Language tomorrow. I am so excited to learn ASL, I have wanted to do it for a long time now.

Break pictures

So for Christmas Kenny and I went to Texas to spend it with my family. It was so fun and good to see everybody. Here are some random pictures that we got with our NEW CAMERA (thanks Santa)...

My Grandma Dethloff, Riley, and I on Christmas morning.

My Grandpa rocking out on the Guitar Hero that Chris, Cole, and Riley got.

Riley and I playing Wii. She is so fun... and totally kicked my trash in Tony Hawk.

The heated and intense Scrabble game.

Also, when we were home, we were so fortunate to get to attend Riley's baptism. I was so glad that we got to be a part. Riley is so cute and I am so proud of the amazing decision she made to be baptized.

Riley and my Dad before the big event.
